Friend or lover?
Clarisse slanted her eyes toward her new ally. His long legs supported a large muscular chest and shoulders. His aquiline nose and full lips seemed more like a Roman gladiator than contemporary Italian stock. The layered, wavy dark hair and passionate chocolate brown eyes could melt the coldest of hearts. He reminded her of one of Italy’s rakishly handsome soccer players, but Nick seemed far more dangerous.
Melissa had been born a formidable force of nature and he’d tracked her like prey. Stopped her cold. Nick wasn’t a fool in affairs of the security world, just attractive women in peril. Clarisse looked out the window on her side as the large buildings in downtown Rome began to disappear. The city had the history of a hungry, brutal metropolis, so unlike her French home in the country. She’d be happy to go back once her brother returned and Melissa became well enough to travel.
Nick wouldn’t turn Melissa into the Italian police. He would have already done that before he came back to her hotel room.
