When an inspired trip to Bond Street dressmakers turns Adriana Lizonby from invisible to desirable, she is mistaken for a high-priced ladybird by the notorious Earl of Coldesdowne. Jason Hume is intrigued by the mysterious goddess, but when he discovers Adriana’s true identity, he is appalled at his actions. Will he have to salvage her reputation by offering marriage? Does he even want to? His heart says yes. His rakish temperament and lifestyle say no. Will Jason allow love to rule his life?

(pages 61) Sensual

Excerpt:

Her flaxen locks swirled wildly and she struggled mightily to hold them. She was flushed and laughing and he felt no words were needed to enjoy her company.

Reaching the track, he slowed the horses, allowing her for the first time to relax her hold on her wayward hair.

“Oh my, I believe I shall look like I am wearing a broom. Do you think?”

No. She was wearing a mass of tangled spun gold silk. “I believe we can smooth the worst of it. Here let me.” He slipped his fingers into the matted silk and gently tugged on the tangles, aching at the initial touch. The texture was as it had looked in Relan’s. The matted strands gave slowly and his glide snagged several times while he gently tugged on the worst of the knots. But the softness and shine was restored with ease and as she turned to him once again, he was struck. Struck with her amazingly alluring face. She was everything earthy and sensual a man could want.

He had no doubt they would make a striking couple, his locks curling and one shade darker, more gold, his eyes one shade greener. His tan skin compared to her pale but flushed face. The tip of her tongue slid out to moisten her lower lip and he could not resist. He had to have his hands on her again. He reached for her cheeks and her eyes flared then drooped as he stroked the backs of his knuckles down her cheek. He took the pad of his thumb and ran it over her lower lip. It was so easy to press into her mouth and she closed her lips around his thumb. He pressed more firmly, grabbing her cheek with his remaining fingers.

She kept her eyes closed.

He could not stand it. He had to taste. His lips replaced his thumb.
