From the doorway of her best friend's beach-front cafe, Megan Charles watched a now familiar sight sweep into view. As he had each day at this time for the past week, the mystery man, as she'd come to call him--her mystery man--jogged easily up the beach. One of many vacationers to Carter's Cove--the little resort town whose population swelled four times over during the summer months--he was different. And special, very, very special.
Everything about him spoke unique--exceptional really--even down to the Hawaiian print shorts and bright colored tee shirt he wore. Tall, bronze and beautiful, from what she could see at this distance, he belonged on vacation in some exotic, celebrity-endowed locale. Whatever was he doing in their little burg? He probably lived in a luxurious penthouse, and had the job--no career--to support an extravagant lifestyle.
Maybe I'll just happen to be on the beach tomorrow when he comes by. The bold thought fit perfectly into her daydream.
And say what? her inner voice challenged.
