When had his hand taken hers? She wasn't exactly sure. She only knew their palms and fingers fit snugly--and perfectly--together.
The restaurant he chose was perfect too. Soft, enchanting music. Low key, romantic lighting. A cozy corner booth. A charming, attentive companion.
Leah was momentarily awed--not to mention amazed--by the recent turn of events. In less than an hour, her entire life had changed. For the better. Far better.
"So you never married?" She tried to keep from sounding too incredulous. How in the world had such a fabulous hunk been passed up by the marital merry-go-round?
"Never." The slight shake of his head suggested both acceptance and regret. Yet his tone was more determined than wistful. "Not that I didn't want those things ... you know ... wife ... kids."
Leah followed his gaze as he glanced out the window across from their booth. The sun had dipped even lower yet remained visible above the horizon. Its still vibrant orange and magenta glow continued in its quest to stave off the persistent shadows of dusk.
"I just never found the right woman ... until..,"
