The dragon shot from the crest of the mountain, spreading its elegant wings to catch the updraft. Soaring high, it was a sight like no other. Sunlight glinting off the huge body created swirls of rich, brilliant colors that seemed to clothe the creature in a garment of jewels. Regal and proud, the ancient beast swooped and turned in the fresh, pine scented mountain air. This was the creature's element, its place in the world.
It heard the rocket launcher fire, but had no idea what the sound meant. It was only when the round tore into its flesh that it realized an attack was underway.
The beast's roar echoed from one mountain peak to another, shaking the trees with the haunting vibration and tearing at the heart of every creature that heard it.
There was no time for much of a defensive assault, but the dragon did manage to breathe one wave of fire onto the attackers below.
