Caitlin Seavey relives the same nightmare every night for three years. Then one day, the dream seeps into reality when an ethereal Scotsman visits. Horrified, she confides in her grandmother, who then gives her a two hundred year old novel titled Fate’s Monolith. It tells the tale of her distant relative’s journey to medieval Scotland and could only be a myth. When Caitlin discovers a family heirloom in the attic she soon learns the book is based on truth.

Chieftain Ferchar Mac’Lomain found what he was looking for. Caitlin. He should have left her alone. For to bring her to Cowal will spell disaster-—a foreseen threat to himself, his clan, and Caitlin. As a visionary, it’s his obligation to protect her. As a man, he’s determined to ignore his heart. Can he thwart his destiny? Or will he forever be a slave to the gods of old?

“Emma, go,” Ferchar said and she did, none to happy about it. He looked back at the woman. “Do you have a name, lass?”

She was back against the far wall now, though her posture spoke of a woman preparing for rape; her eyes were defiant and angry. “No.”

He sighed, turned away and walked over to the fireplace. Just like he knew she would, the silly chit made a dash for the door. Ferchar grabbed her arm to stop her. Pain rushed up his arm and knocked into his chest. Not pain in the common sense but a pain born of carnal pleasure. Lust raced through him even though she struggled to pull her arm away.

“Let me go. Now.” Her words were low but he could feel her heartbeat fill his body. He had never experienced anything like this.

Except for when he had tormented her previously.

He drew forth his magic and tried to separate her from him, inside out. If anything, his urgency became worse. He gritted his second request out of clenched teeth. “What is your name?”

She stilled. Ferchar suddenly knew that she was feeling the same thing.

“Caitlin,” she whispered and met his eyes.

“Caitlin.” The single word tasted like Heaven on his tongue. Like a spring morning leaden with wildflowers and fresh, cleansing air. He released her and stepped back.
