Sali flies to Jamaica believing her father sent her to photograph rare hummingbirds for a retired ambassador. After she arrives, she meets Sebastian, a man who makes her question her past belief in men.
Sebastian insists they pose as lovers to cover their real reason for being there. Although Sali doesn't trust her judgment in men, she reluctantly agrees. Even with that though, she fully intends to be home in time for Christmas—whether their mission is completed or not.
Along with Sebastian, the danger she faces with her personal safety, and with her heart, threatens to change her life forever.

She took a couple of tentative steps toward the water.
“Let me hold your hand,” he said, taking it. “The bottom might be slippery.”
They waded in. The water was warmer than the cool cave, but Sali shivered anyway.

His quiet statement sent a spiral of happiness twirling through her. Suddenly the water felt very warm, so did her skin. “I’d like that,” she said.
He grinned. “This is going to be pure pleasure.”
They waded in deeper, until the water reached her knees. He hunkered down. “Lift your foot.”
Spellbound, she obeyed.
He propped it on his knee, and began to lather her ankle and calf. “Tell me if you get cold,” he said, working his way up her leg.
“I will,” she said, feeling breathless and a bit dizzy. No one had ever pampered her like this. No one. She would always remember it, and might never feel cold again.
She savored every moment. How could a man with his strength have such a delicate touch? Be so adept at pleasing her?
